Family Retreat: AHOY MATEYS! Pali Retreat Center, Running Springs, CA


Enjoy a pirate themed weekend and connec with other families with bleeding disorders while having fun, challenging yourself to the ropes courses, hiking, competing in a scavenger hunt, swimming, IV Infusion training, strengthening relationships, eating smores at a campfire and singing karaoke!

Check in is at Friday, June 1, 2018 at 4:00pm and Check out is Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 11:00am

Pali Retreat Center has a limited number of beds available for our group and we welcome all immediate family members LIVING IN THE HOUSEHOLD of the person with a bleeding disorder. Priority will be given to families who complete the pre-registration here and

  • Are recently diagnosed and
  • Have never attended a family retreat

This year’s retreat is $20 per person for the weekend (ages 3 and under free). Understanding that times are difficult for many families, please contact Cynthia Chavez ( to discuss a fee reduction or waiver. Once you are pre-registered here, we will send you the remaining forms

and application to complete.

Refunds are available if requested before May 26, 2018.

Please register only if you are able to attend for the full weekend, as this event was sold out last year with a waitlist.  Please expect to bring your own bedding (ie. sleeping bags and pillows) and toiletries. HFSC will provide all food, beverages and snacks. Food is not allowed in the cabins. Refrigeration available in dining room for medication storage. Please arrive no later than 8pm though we will not be able to provide dinner to anyone arriving after 6:30pm.

Friday, June 1:

4:00 pm: Arrival, Registration, Check In and Room Assignments, Pirate Swag

5:30 pm: Welcome and Announcements

6:00 pm: Dinner

6:30 pm: Presentation by Gut Monkey

8:30 pm: S’mores and Songs by the Campfire

Saturday, June 2:

8:00 am: Breakfast

9:00 am-12:00 pm: Childcare available Ages 0-4, Outdoor Survival Skills Program Ages 5-11, Teen Program with Chris Bombardier of Gut Monkey, Ages 12-17

9:00 am-11:00 am Educational Workshops including IV INfusion practice with Orthopaedic Hemophilia Treatment Center and couples counseling

11:00 am-12:00 pm: CHOPPED Cooking Demo

12:30 pm: Lunch

1:30 pm-4:30 pm: Activities (Ropes, Rock Climbing wall with Chris Bombardier, GaGa Pit, Swimmming, Archery, Basketball, car racing)

4:30 pm: Snowcones, Family Finale

6:00 pm: Dinner

7:00 pm: Karaoke Night

8:30 pm-9:00 pm: Night Time Hike

Sunday, June 3:

8:00 am: Breakfast and Closing Remarks

9:30 am-10:30 am: Check out of Cabin

11:00 am: Departure from Retreat
